Don't fall asleep, we lead pretty boring lives.
April 5, 2011...well hopefully we have seen the last of winter..its been a long one with more snow than we have seen in a while and its taking its time in going away..about 18 years ago our yard was pretty much dried up and mom and dad came and parked their motor home on it...this year, there's still 2 feet of snow! Our daughter and her family have taken over our farm and are now living here...it is great having them here with us and hopefully they can get started on their own farm operation over the next few years.
February 13, 2011...Jaxon Robert Redding Nicholson was born in Calgary...we have five grandkids now, the boys outnumber the girls 3 to 2...we enjoy spending as much time with each of them that we can, but my how they grow..the oldest granddaughter will be 19 this summer, her brother will be 17 and their youngest sister will be 14...Jaxon and Logan are the little ones now and we don't get to see them as often as the older ones. We did get to watch Logan play pre hockey this February...he loves it..in fact he loves anything that has to do with hockey.
November 7, 2009....tomorrow Bob and I will have been married for 41 years...yep...we are still hanging in there. My parents celebrate their 61st anniversary this month too. They are really hanging in there. Things don't change very much around here....seems like we do the same thing over year after year...we did buy a new car this summer...a Toyota Corolla...I love it. We made 2 trips to Calgary, one in the spring and one in August for Logan's 3rd birthday. I had another bountiful garden this year..we gave a lot of potatoes, carrots and corn away...those old corrals have made the nicest garden I have ever had in the 35 years of gardening. I am now having to learn how to edit my webpage as the host has introduced a new editor...so I best get on with it...hopefully I will post more often from now on.

March 9, 2009...I am pathetic that I haven't kept up my news...I will just hi-lite a few things that have happened over the last 3 years...if I can remember...August 8, 2006 Logan Mackenzie Nicholson was born....our 4th grandchild and second grandson, first Nicholson grandson. His mom and dad have kept us updated with lots of pictures and news of his growing...we have seen him quite a few times...the last being at Christmas and we head down to see them in a few weeks, I do wish they lived closer. I am still working on my genealogy files, have made about 1/2 dozen quilts, gardened my brains out during the summer, watched Belinda's kids, swim, play soccer and just be kids. Megan will be working on getting her driver's license this summer...just seems like yesterday she was learning how to drive her little plastic scooter on the deck. Blaine has turned into an avid hunter and trapper....he is a straight A student in school (hope he keeps that up until he graduates) Kaylee is a year away from being a teenager. She's at that stage where she can still act like a little kid or act like she's all grown up....she's an awesome babysitter...she was with us in Calgary last summer and she loves looking after Logan. A real mother hen. Bob is on what will probably be his last stint as a councilor for Chetwynd...He will be 79 when his term runs out so I think he will let politics go by the way by then. As I sit and write today the sun is shining brightly, but it was -30 C when we got up this morning and we still have lots of snow....I hope spring busts loose big time when it gets here...we are so tired of this winter! Well I gotta run, that's all for now.
July 28, 2006...I know, its been awhile..I have been busy, busy and working on my web pages gets left till I don't have anything to do or just need to spend some time here. It's been a long hot summer so far...almost draught conditions. We have had a little rain and when I said little, maybe an inch so far (since my last post) The town of Tumbler Ridge, 90 minutes from Chetwynd, was evacuated on July 3rd as a forest fire was threatening their community...man did Chetwynd get big in a hurry! Residents were able to return home without the fire reaching them. We are just waiting word of our 4th grandchild's arrival then we are off to see 'him'. Could be any day now! Bob is pretty much done haying...our crop is about 1/3 of what it should be. Thank goodness we don't have cattle to feed! The garden is starting to produce...it has been helped along with lots of watering. The raspberry patch decided it was going to produce like the dickens this year...40 gallons have been picked so far and many more to go yet, and besides they were two weeks early ripening. Well I am going to leave it at that...all is well...Love to you all.
March 30, 2006...ok...where did winter go...we didn't get winter until February...and now it is spring...what a great winter it was! We had great news at Christmas that our son and daughter in-law are expecting a baby the first part of August...and they have been told it is a boy...the Nicholson name lives on! Of course everyone is excited.
October 25, 2005...The Nicholson family was honored on October 18, 2005 when our town named a street in the family's honor. Bob's family has lived here since 1934 and the street they renamed leads to the property that they used to own. Our weather is still real nice...but of course Halloween is coming up shortly and that's usually when our weather can turn miserable. So until next time.
September 30, 2005...Well I have been in Calgary visiting with my son and his wife for a week...been having a great time. I had my first time ever pedicure today...what a pleasure that was...now I can't wait for another one. One of my sisters came along to keep me company while the kids are at work...we have managed to do some shopping and some real 'relaxing' while we have been here. Calgary is a great city...as far as cities go...I still like rural living. I have also had the pleasure of using high speed internet to do some genealogy research...now that is wonderful compared to dial up and waiting and waiting for things to happen..one of these days!
September 9, 2005...I am sitting here today trying to rebuild my website. I could be doing something more constructive, but this is more fun. I have listened to CNN for days about the destruction that hurricane Katrina (such a beautiful name but what ugly results). My heart and prayers go out to all of those people that went through this. I can't even imagine the destruction, but I don't think I am alone. Thank God there are people willing to go there and help out with their time, and also for those sending money and aid. Will that part of the US ever be the same? In a few weeks Bob and I are off to Calgary to visit Eric and Jan...Bob flies out to Vancouver for the week and I will stay in Calgary. Bob is on town council here and their annual AGM (UBCM) is held in Vancouver. Vancouver is too big for me, that's why I am not going. School started here this week...and all the kids seem happy with their teachers and such. My garden is pretty much off...just have potatoes to dig. It was such a rotten summer here...cold..damp and just plain miserable...but we came through it...I have had better gardens but then again I have had worse. I know with all the rain the grass grew like crazy...I was moving at least twice a week there for a while..we had our first frost on September 6, but it wasn't a real hard one...of course leaves have already started falling and up today, we have had 2 weeks of pretty nice weather. Bob is getting a second cutting of hay off of one of his fields...never done that before. He put up lots of hay this year and wouldn't you know it we are out of the cattle business at the moment so we have a pile of hay to sell. I was done work at the end of April and I must say I don't miss working at all...I was down to 2 days a week, but I just got to the point where I didn't even want to do that..I guess you could say I am retired now. I have lots of things to keep me busy though...I haven't got bored yet! Well that's gonna be it for today...I want to build some more...I hope to post here more regular than I did at my other site...til next time.
